Preparation must come in two different forms in the music industry, knowledge and experience. Knowing how to do something and having experience actually doing that same thing are completely different. Knowledge without experience isn’t very useful because music is a practical applied art form. Experience without knowledge isn’t very useful because the experience can easily become misdirected or unproductive. The best way to put yourself on a sure path in the music industry is to pursue a combination of both.
